catching up

Well, only one week until the end of another year and I have so much to catch up on. As most people know, this blog is actually a gift to my grandchildren. Stories of our lives the way we live them so someday they might pick up one of my blog books and read what life was like when they were little. I can't imagine what I might have learned if my Nana had done something like this! I love documenting the things my girlies say and, someday, hope to document the same for our little man, Luke. Hopefully, there will be more grandbabes to come and I will be around to tell stories about them, too.

So this brings me to Christmas... we've had a month of celebrating... the Santa Express, helping our girlies get a tree, a visit to Santa, school programs, making Christmas cookies, grampa bringing Santa to town, the Christmas Pageant...to all of us being together this year...whew! No wonder I'm tired!

Two things I haven't yet posted - Maddie's elementary school Christmas program and grampa bringing Santa to town! So here goes...

Honestly, it has been a long time since grampa and I were in the middle school gym for any reason. Our girls went to middle school there and it's been eleven years since Amber graduated high school so you can just calculate how many years since we were in there for any reason. Maddie's elementary Christmas program was held in the old middle school gym this year and walking in was like deja vu!

and it is amazing to see what teachers can do with kids in just a few short months! The program was excellent and all the kids did such a good job! We are looking forward to many years of school programs!

Last weekend, Santa stopped by our house to hitch a ride into town. Unfortunately, even though grampa was asked ahead of time to do this, it wasn't publicized so none of the kids in town knew Santa was going to be riding around the square on his way to the library! There were only two little girlies {and their mommy} who were fortunate enough to get to ride to the library that day. Grampa and Santa stopped by the church to pick them up after their program rehearsal and they rode to the library with Santa.
